Microneedling collagen induction therapy (CIT) is an aesthetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles (microneedling the skin) in order to induce endogenous production of cutaneous collagen. CIT is often referred to as “microneedling” or “skin needling” in media and literature, however it is important to distinguish CIT from other contexts in which microneedling devices are used on the skin, e.g. transdermal product delivery.

How Microneedling Works
Microneedling is the process of breaking up the scar tissue using a set of 12 tiny needles on the tip of a pen. This broken tissue then rejuvenates itself in a much smoother fashion. Aloria Skin Care Spa uses the Rejuvapen, an innovative new tool that gives our clinicians precision and efficiency. Microneedling is a gradual process, meaning the more sessions you have, the better your skin will look.
Microneedling is also a somewhat uncomfortable process, akin to having sandpaper rubbed across your skin. To lessen this discomfort, we always apply a numbing cream 20 minutes before the procedure. Afterwards, you won’t feel pain but your skin will be red and sensitive for up to two days and sun exposure should be avoided; we therefore recommend Friday treatments or getting the time off work to recover.
After a few days, you will see that all that inconvenience was worth it. Your confidence will return, you’ll be happier, and, of course, your scars will be greatly diminished. Microneedling won’t completely erase acne scars, but over several sessions, the difference in your appearance will be dramatic.
